Laura McDowell Hopper is a quilter whose work has shown at QuiltCon, the International Quilt Festival, the American Quilter's Society, and local shows. She has published in quilt magazines, been a guest on quilt podcasts, and teaches at guilds, shops, and shows. She has worked in museums across the Midwest for 12 years, earning a bachelor's degree in history and museum studies, a master's in public history, and a certificate in textile preservation. She works as the Curator of the Pick Museum of Anthropology at Northern Illinois University where she oversees the care and exhibit of a 20,000-piece collection, with a special focus on textiles.

In her free time, Laura enjoys studying quilt history, listening to music and podcasts, and finding the perfect Simpsons quote for all occassions.
